Public Art and Open Spaces in the City

The City of London has some wonderful quiet spaces. Some are beautiful gardens, others are creatively designed areas with plants or sculpture. This walk explores some of the places best loved by those who visit, work or live in the City.

Our walk begins outside Mansion House station and finishes at Liverpool Street station.

Along the way you will:

  • Discover the relationship between a garden, Roman London and World War Two
  • Pass by young lovers overlooking a sunken garden
  • See the only public monument to British newspaper making
  • Visit the first churchyard in the City turned into a public garden
  • Find out why one man returned to London 67 years after emigrating to unveil a sculpture he created

If you love green spaces, oases of quiet and some great sculpture this is the walk for you.

Duration: 1½ to 2 hours
